Patrick and I met on August 22, 2010.

We were married on August 27, 2011.

We found out we were expecting our first baby on August 25, 2012.

I’m officially in love with the month of August.  :)

I had originally thought about waiting until our anniversary to tell Patrick, but as soon as I saw those two pink lines I came running out of the bathroom stick in hand and practically shouted, “We’re pregnant!”  We spent the next several moments in a combination of shock and joy.  We were trying, but we had just started trying.  I had know idea that it would happen so quickly, but since I had spent the last week feeling really tired and just kind of sick to my stomach I thought maybe I should take a test just to be sure…

Originally, we thought we would wait and tell everyone after the first trimester, but it was getting a little difficult to keep the secret in since I am constantly feeling like I’m about to be sick.  This morning sickness stuff is no joke, except for the fact that it is all-day, everyday sickness.  Other than that I am feeling pretty good.  We told my family the day before Patrick’s birthday while they were over for dinner and cake.  I told them I had a new project that I was working on, but it wasn’t quite finished yet.  Then I went and got my positive test and showed my mom.  Hugs and tears were shed and it was such an amazing feeling.  We decided to wait until the next day, Patrick’s actual birthday, to tell his family.  After the Chiefs game, we went over to his parent’s house and said we had a little something for our nephew, Mason.  Patrick handed his brother a bag that contained a little white onesie that I had ironed on letters spelling out, “I’m getting a cousin!”  Again with the hugs and tears.  It was so much fun telling our families!!!

Now I just can’t wait until May when we get to bring this little peanut home!!!IMG_3902
